You need to be a USATT member ONLY if you are going to play in tournaments sanctioned by USATT

More and more clubs are dropping their affiliation with USATT.
Personally I do not see any benefit in joining USATT especially giben that their rating system is totally broke now

Just goto Omnipong Tournaments page
In tournament listing, look at the last column called for USATT Level.
You will find non-sanctioned tournament in most states.
You do not need to be a USATT member to play in these tournaments
Good Luck

$25 is not really that bad for an year membeship.
But the USATT rating system is so broke that theer is really no benefit of joining USATT unless you are youbg player with Olympic dreams

I can get a good estimate of my level by playing in non-USATT tournaments.]
So I see no benefit of joining.

I would have like to play in the USATT league but since they want me to join USATT to play in the league, I stopped playing in the league also
