I don't think it actually "went away" or "became illegal". It's one of those rubbers that was recently re-issued with a new headstamp featuring the new ITTF number. The old one didn't have a number.

Iskandar
Iskandar,
You are TOTALLY wrong............as usual. What else is new
The old 388B-1 that was removed from the ITTF LARC years ago is no longer approved, as it does not have any approval code
So contrary to your wild claim, the old version of 388B-1 did go away & become dispaaroved.
The new 388B-1 listed on current ITTF LARC has an ITTF approval code.
I am not saying the new version is or is not different from old version except for the approval code. That I do not know but that is an entirely different issue,
Please stop confusing others. but I doubt you ever will

This is true. If you go to an ITTF tournament, the umpire may not allow your old 388B-1 if he or she looks it up on ITTF LARC & sees that the 399b-1 has an approval code now.
Do you understand ?
