I am not sure if you are new to table tennis but the word "hitting" usiually reserved for flat hitting the ball using wide pips.
Here what you meant to say was that they are looping & counter looping the ball at each other so hard.

The most distinguishing aspect of table tennis as compared to other racket sport is its extreme spins.
People coming new to table tennis from other racket sports have no clue about the levels of spins in table tennis & confuse "hitting" with "spinning"
