India Women's Table Tennis Team - blockers using wrong blade & backhand rubber

Post by Hon. Imran Khan 1992 »

Ok I am not a spin bowler but I know a thing or two about spin.
I always wondered why the India Women's Table Tennis Team is playing well below their potential

That is because they are all using totally useless low aspect ratio long pips on ITTF LARC .
Rubbers like Tibhar Grass or Dr.Neubauer may have been effective before even 2008 (before Scholer's strike 3 against Dr.Neubauer)
But they are pure garbage in the 40+ plastic ball era.
I don't wish her bad luck but I will eat my words if Manika Batra can defend her titles in Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.

Even if she can win in Birmingham, her focus should be winning medals at World Class Level such as Olympics.
She has the talent but has lesser chance with the useless low aspect ratio long pips rubbers on ITTF LARC.

I even have to wonder why all these players are using AntiSpin like Euro & Japanese rubbers like Tenergy
I wonder if they need more speed and spin with Chinese rubbers like Hurricane that Chinese team uses (and boosts ;) :o )

I don't blames the TTFI as it is in shambles after Government takeover. Even otherwise , their main focus is still chopper extermination per ITTF objectives especially on men's side such as in Africa, Sweden, Vietnam etc etc & have little time to address issues on women's side ( just like how Petra Sorling has no time for Linda Bergstrom )
