Functional & social rubber types for amateurs > the best & the worst

Post by Loopy Lobby »

All this is mostly for amateur players
All this is only for competitive players & not exercise (or recreational) players.

Best functional rubber (theoretically) for strongside (usually forehand for most) > Short pips
Best practically functional rubber for veteran ( non-looping) on strongside (usually forehand for most) > Short pips
Best practically functional rubber for youth & adults for strongside (usually forehand for most) > Spinverted
Worst social rubber for weakside (usually backhand for most) > Short pips

Best functional rubber for strongside (forehand) > Spinverted (aka spinny inverted or smooth or reverse)
Best functional rubber for weakside (backhand) > Long pips listed on ITTF LARC
Best super-functional rubber & (worst social rubber) for weakside (backhand) > Super Long pips (not listed on ITTF LARC)

Social hierarchy in table tennis
Best social rubber (meaning most dysfunctional) for backhand > Spinverted
Second best social rubber for backhand > Antispin
Third best social rubber for backhand > Short Pips
Fourth best social rubber for backhand > Long pips on ITTF LARC
