I just noticed that the Ratings page on the USATT website no longer display Inactive members, which really sucks ###.
I am not exactly a big fan of USATT but I can see their point.
Why should USATT give you free ratings if you are not even a member.
As much as I hate the USATT, $25 is more than a reasonable fee I think.
Or maybe USATT can charge a fee of say $10 for ratings to be shown online & also give a onetime tournament pass for your next tournament. This may encourage more inactive players to start playing in tournaments again

But a better way for USATT to have no membership fee is to require a player to pkay in tournaments & have the tournaments collect a hidden fee in their entry fees that will be paid to USATT.. League can also do this
I do not know exactly how to implement this & but I am positive there are many ways this can be done.
Also if a player had played say tournaments this way, the $75 elite fee should be waived for next US Open or US Closed if they want to ebter

Now if I want to start playing in a sanctioned tournament again, how do I even know what is my rating when I can't even find it on the website anymore? Stupid USATT
You can register at Omnipong for free & see your last USATT rating even if you are not a current USATT member.

I am not a big fan of USATT outsourcing stuff like ratings to a third party like Simply Compete
I have nothing agaisnt Simply Compete but when you add another layer , it causes more problems than it solves.
Outsourcing may make more sense for larger or more complex projects but ratings ?
Theer are also lot of problems with ratings that had not been fixed in years & I am not sure a non tabletennis group understands all these
Ratings used to be in house before.
I know turnover could be a problem but if you are prepared for it with multiple people trained, this is not a problem
Unless of course Simply Compete is doing this for free

Same thing goes for website which also has so many problems.
Bunch of high school student interns can do a much better job

Akk these should be kept in house at headquarters or with USATT employees
