So it looks like in the playoff draws of division 1, the #1 seed will meet the #3 seed in one semi-final and the #2 seed will play the #4 seed. Aren't the draws usually 1v4 and 2v3? What is going on here?
To make things worse, there is a massive skill gap between the top 3 teams and the 4th team. If I were either the MLTT or Macthpoint team, I would be complaining like mad about the draw.

It is a draw 50/50 whether #1 meets #3 or #4.

This is 100% correct.

Thanks for the clarification on the draws.
It is kind of hilarious how NextLevel & LightSpin kiss up to twiddler.

However though twiddler s right about the fact that this is the way it has been done in table tennis, I am not sure if it is the right way.

If you finish #3 you earned that spot over #4 regardless of what method was used to decide that.
So it is kind of fair that you only play #2 first and not #4

If you look at NBA or NGL or NCAA etc. , this is how it is done that is #3 always plays #2 and no draw is made.
For example, in NCAA regionals in basketball, #1 plays #16 & #2 plays #15 etc. not #1 playing #15 or #16 by draw
Take a look at attached picture for each conference in NBA 2024 playoffs.

Note that there is no draws (lots) for any of the above 8 seeding assignments
