Update after 18 months of competative play, I'm now playing a good standard in 2 leagues which is remarkable after a 40 year layoff. Next year I could end up playing in the Premier league so I wanted some more advice on rubbers and blades. After avice from this site I stuck with my 45 year old Stiga 2000 offensive blade which I find comfortable, I have ended up using vegan X 1.8mm on my forehand where I mainly loop and flat hit and on my weaker backhand side I use nitaku active 1.8mm. I have 2 requests as a backup blade I moved to the Infinity VPS V with the same rubbers but found I couldn't control fast top spins to my backhand which I think was down to the catapult effect and my reactions lol. Is there a better choice of blade which is not so fast (or choice of backhand rubber). I'm asking as I'd like to be prepared for the step up and need to be able to cope with fast top spins to my backhand, thank you in advance and I'm so glad I started playing again.

I dont think a Stiga 2000 would be too fast of a blade, and Factive is not that "hot" of a rubber either. Have you tried the Vega X on backhand?
Thanks for admitting you don't think LOL
So you are recommending a dumb racket to a 60+ year old player who is returning after a 40 year lat off ? REALLY ?

So you are asking for advice from a discussion forum that worships robotNazi controlled ITTF ? Good luck
Especially TTDaily, which is the worst ITTF forum filled with pip hating robotNazis ? OMG

I assume you meant Nittaku Factive Inverted
So are you really going use a dumb racket & be a two wing looper at your age with your weker backhand & make it to the premier league ?
If you do I will be extremely impressed,
Unless you have been a very high ranked player in your youth, my opinion is that you should lose your Nittaku FActive inverted on your backhand and switch to an OX slim pips or long pips rubber. It will take an year or two to learn slim or long pips but you will be glad you switched
