Hello all, I am looking to buy a long pips rubber for a project and it needs to be able to produce as much spin as possible. Ideally it would be something relatively wallet friendly but I am open to discussions of all budgets. I am also open to any advice of treatments to increase the spin of pips rubbers.[/quote]
As it was the best available chopping (as well as all round) rubber before the plastic ball era.
So I am more than familiar with this rubber.
And I know the pips definitely are not sticky in the OX version & they definitely are not treated in any way for sure.
If they were I would not have used it, as I was a chopper till them, Treated rubbers are for blockers.
But what Igor is talking about is the KTL Stranger Attack version with sponge.
However thi also is NOT a treated rubber by design.'
I believe what happened is that the glue that connect the sponge to the top sheet melted when the rubbers were stored in high heat in warehouse.
The melted glue reached the packing & the packing got stuck to the top of the pips.
Looks like the dealer was sending this to buyers.
I bought the sponge version also as my dealer did not have OX, as I know how to separate the sponge from top sheet.
When I received the rubber I was upset.
And the dealer was giving me a hard time about giving even any partial refund.
Igor has been going around spreading disinformation that KTL Stranger with sponge is a sticky rubber by design. It is NOT
Please don't fall for Igor's nonsense
I switched to Magic 77 after KTL Stranger because Magic 77 is real long pips & far superior to KTL Stranger on any other crap on ITTF LARC.
This may not work for you, Merlin El mago , since you play close to the table, as Magic 77 is more of a chopping rubber. You made the right choice with Reach C-801
And I do not know who made the video above because it is a fake. My KTL Stranger OX never sticks to the ball like that, thought it is the grippiest slim pips rubber on ITTF LARC (easily better than Feint Long 2 or 3 & Curl P1 in back spin as well as control)

KTL Stranger Attack with sponge should be the very thing you need
I have used KTL Stranger (OX version) for about 6 to 7 years exclusively in the 40- celluloid ball era.Merlin el mago wrote: replied to Igorponger on Monday April 14 , 202 at 10:55 AM #3
