I was curious as to who was the best ever chopper in history using anti, both male or female categories
I am not asking about close to the table blockers.
I am only asking about away from the table choppers.
Thanks

Only name that is ever mentioned in John Hilton from late 70s and early 80's
He was the surprise 1980 European champion .
It is not clear what his racket was but for sure he did use anti on one side
It is not clear what he used on the other side .
If it was anti or long pips

Anti arrived in the sport in the very late 60s or very early 70's
Long pips arrived a few years after anti
The original initially intended purpose of both anti and long pips was as an answer using back spin to the top spin loopers
But anti was quickly rejected by choppers as an away from the table chopping tool in favor of long pips.
The

So ITTF stepped in and promptly banned long pips at the 1977 Birmingham BGM
ITTF has done an amazing job of keeping this first ban on long pips as one of the best secrets in the sport.
They continue to do it today by calling a totally useless version of these pips still as long pips on their

ITTF and its disinformation agents & coaches as well as manufacturers continue to push wide pips and anti as viable defensive tools to confuse the clueless defenders
While at the same time cleverly passing

Big joke (sort of) about John Hilton after his European Championship win was
1. He was ranked #1 in Europe
2. He was ranked #2 in England
3. He was ranked #3 in his county
4. He was ranked #4 in the local YMCA where he trained
I am not sure but I think this was from the book Advanced TAble Tennis Techniques by former UK #1 Chester Barnes
This was because it was explained how you can win against pips / anti style if you train how to play against them
