How to know if I should change my outer carbon for an inner carbon or even all-wood blade based on the dwell time?
Can you produce the amount of spin, arc and placement you want, with ease, in match conditions?
A telltale sign of missing dwell is being unable to generate spin at medium power
Tyce,
You have serious comprehension issues
The question was not about why the OP is not getting enough dwell time
It is about whether the OP needs more dwell time or less dwell time to start with
(That is also what the topic header itself says.......... unless the OP is confused as to what they are asking about themselves and this happens in most questions in ITTF worship forums such as TTDaily )

This depends on the style of play on that particular side backhand or forehand
The dwell time does not have to be equal on forehand and backhand.
So you need to determine what dwell time the OP needs first

If the OP for instance is a wide pips out hitter on forehand , then the OP needs low dwell time there
That means an outer composite like carbon or ZLC on forehand side
But if the OP is a looper on forehand then he or she can go with ALC or soft outer layer but not carbon etc.

Same concepts apply for backhand
It is a lot more involved because BH can be for chopping or blocking or chop-blocking etc.
For mostly vertical racket angle mode play like blocking or chop-blocking you can use an inner layer composite
For mode horizontal racket angle mode away from the table chopping you want the maximum dwell time but also with maximum wobble you do not want a composite layer on BH side at all
