If you are a beginner in table tennis who had been brainwashed by the (click link >) robotNazis controlled ITTF and its coaches into thinking that
(click link >) Top spin ONLY Olympic version fake table tennis is real table tennis & want to support a corrupt ITTF , it is perfectly ok to buy a (click link >) dumb racket sold in stores like Walmart , Target or sporting goods stores like Disck's , Scheels, Academy Sports etc.

But if you want to enjoy true diversity table tennis playing all spins and not just top spin only , you are recommended to order a smart racket mades using a (click link >) smart blade from a specialty table tennis equipment seller

I went to couple of clubs. Everyone keeps telling me I should start with a dumb racket with spinny inverted rubber both sides & learn proper technique first before moving to other styles.
I asked the coaches why I cannot start with a smart racket.
They tell me that only players with lack of skill or old players should use such rackets to compensate for lack of skill or technique

LOL this is the oldest brainwashing tactic used by robotNazis & ITTF's coaches to steer innocent newbie victims towards Top SPin Only Olympic Table Tennis

If you ask them what "proper technique" they are talking about, they will say it is top spin . This claim therefore is based on the inherently implied assumption that all new players should start learning table tennis with top spin ONLY.

This assumption is fine for forehand . But this assumption is totally flawed for the backhand.
Because basic human biomechanics dictates that the backhand is weaker for almost all humans in all racket sports . Tennis has recognized this and has moved onto two handed backhand for more powerful backhand top spins more than 50 years ago. But ITTF and its coaches keep insisting that all players can play backhand in style as well as consistency equal to the forehand. But sadly even at the pro level more players than not can produce consistently powerful top spins on the backhand. At the amateur level it is far worse for backhand.
The sad part is that most of the players could possibly have more consistent backhand strokes with some other style such as blocking or chopping or flat hitting. But ITTF's coaches want to force the issue and shove down backhand top spin down the throats of all beginner players. This is especially a much bigger joke for older & para players.
The second issue is neuro-scinee but it applies to only young children. Table tennis is supposedly the best sport for faster brain development for young children. But if children are forced to play dumb rackets on the false assumption that they will leave the sport if they use smart rackets which allows them to play tactically with all spins and this enhances better brain development. But if children play mindless top spins from both forehand & backhand it actually probably stunts brain development because they do not have to think tactically.

BTW all dumb rackets sold in department stores or sporting good store or from online dealer are useless
It is not just spinny smooth rubber both sides
It is also the dumb rackets with wide pips with sponge both sides or hardbat (wide pips OX type)
Of course sandpaper rackets
All of the above are dumb rackets and useless

This includes cheap premade rackets sold in department stores or sporting good store or premade or assembled from online speciality TT dealer
