That is not European Championships . It was Europe Top 16 in Montreux, Switzerlandyogi_bear wrote: on Monday February 09 , 2026 at 6:09am
It is a good thing Sabina Winter won the European Championships as it will encourage other players to take up anti-spin also as a viable setup for competitions. Long pipe are fairly common nowadays but antispin players are not that many.
Nevertheless it is a good win with what is essentially a dead piece of rubber
That is because she also has a great forehand
Yes anti spin rubbers may seem effective because they have no minimum required limit on COF (Coefficient of friction).
All pips rubbers have a minimum ITTF mandated limit of 0.5 set in 2008 with the Frictionless Pips Ban set by Scholer to screw Dr.Neubauer ......... again (after 2004) .......... and again (after 1998)
(click link >) 14 rule and regulation changes since 1977 by the ITTF to severely limit the choppers in the current 40+ mm plastic ball only era
If Sabine Winter used actual long pips with a smart blade she will be even better
