Is footstomping against the rules?

Post by SpinSpoon »

I am confused about rule about foot stomping.
I heard it was made illegal once
I am not sure what the situation is because I see players doing it nowadays

I think is allowed. The reason involved to do it making the serve is that the other player doesn't listen the sound at impact the ball with the blade to know what kind of spin does the server but good players always check the visual contact between the ball and blade that is mandatory if you play ITTF tournaments.

I know for sure it was made illegal sometime in the 1980s
When exactly did it become legal again?
Or did it?
I need OFFICIAL ITTF information such as some BGM or AGM or EGM etc. for rules of some other directive it was for regulation changes

This seems to be one of those issues that noone seems to have an exact answer.
But for sure footstomping was deemed illegal by some rule around mid 1980s

But then it seems that rule was removed meaning rule do not explicitly state that footstomping is illegal
Then again they also say that an umpire can call it if it deliberately distracts your opponent
