I switched to OK long pips on the backhand because my backhand loop was quite inconsistent and also quiet weak
I read that some players like Manika Batra twiddle and use smooth rubber on the backhand.
But I wonder if it is even worth my time trying this
Should I even bother to learn to loop on the backhand ?

Re: Should I even bother to learn to loop on the backhand ?
No
Because you obviously & correctly switched to pips because you clearly understand the fact that top spin only Olympic table tennis using two winged looping can only be played by a small % players and others are living in a delusional fantasyland just to belong in the dumbed down Olympic version of the sport
That said it is a waste of time for two reasons
1. Your backhand with spinny inverted is weak & inconsistent
2. This is a big one > Almost every one knows how to play against spinny inverted since it is the most used rubber even in all spin table tennis . So if you give a weak loop anyone can loop it or even kill it easily. So it is not worth the trouble
But still you should twiddle & do other strokes as a surprise such as fast block down the line when opponent has stepped around to loop again & again using their powerful forehand & just expect you to keep slow blocking using your pips
You can also lob etc.
More importantly if you use pips on your forehand and attack hard you will end the point 99% of the time . It is not coming back. Even if did, it will be a very weak return which you can kill gain using your pips for an even more dead ball flat kill
