I am from Sweden and have been thinking about moving to Asia in the future with my two children.
Table tennis would be a big part of that.
My daughter was born in 2011 and has started taking table tennis much more seriously during the last year. Right now she is around number 10 in Sweden in her age group and wants to get into a Swedish table tennis high school.
My son was born in 2013 and is number 3 in Sweden in his age group. He is two years younger than his sister and right now he is even stronger for his age.
I have been involved in table tennis for many years and have worked with children and beginners for a long time too.
I could also imagine starting something myself in Asia. A table tennis club, training groups or some kind of activity around table tennis and children.
I have also thought about combining table tennis with dance, movement and balance for younger children. A bit like gymnastics for very small children where they first learn how to move, use their feet, balance and body before everything becomes about hitting the ball.
So I would really like to hear from people who live in Asia.
Which country would you choose for a family like ours?
Which city?
Where is there a strong interest in table tennis?
Where would two children who already play at a good level have the best chance to train, compete and keep improving?
And where would there be good possibilities for me to start something myself?
The Philippines and Vietnam are two countries I have been thinking about, but I am open to other places too.
We do not really feel at home in Sweden anymore. It is also very expensive and difficult in many ways, so I have started thinking more seriously about what life could look like somewhere else.
I would also like to get in contact with clubs, coaches, parents and other people around table tennis in Asia already now.
I have started using YouTube more too.
Right now there is a clip from last Saturday with my daughter playing Swedish Division 3 against men:

This is the channel:

I plan to put up more videos with both children. Training, matches, things they do well and things they need help with.
I can also talk more there about our thoughts about moving to Asia and maybe starting something around table tennis in the future.
If you want to follow us, I would be very happy if you subscribe to the channel and like the video too.
And if anyone here has ideas, contacts, clubs, cities or countries that you think I should look at, please write. I would really like help with this.

Are you sure Vietnam & Philippines are as welcoming to pips players as Indonesia or India for pips playersLongpipsgirl2011 wrote: ↑October 20th, 2026, 1:02 am The Philippines and Vietnam are two countries I have been thinking about, but I am open to other places too.
Indonesians are total pips addicts
But I heard only Indian women & girls are encouraged to use pips India and men & boys are very strongly discouraged
I do not know about Thailand or Sri Lanka or Nepal or Pakistan etc.

This may be a great idea.Longpipsgirl2011 wrote: ↑October 20th, 2026, 1:02 am I have also thought about combining table tennis with dance, movement and balance for younger children. There are lots of dance studios of all kinds at where I live & the places are just packed.
In places like North America , it is borderline stupidity trying to start a table tennis only center.
The best method would be to have other sports to carry table tennis
There is a place here where pickleball & badminton are primary & table tennis is a side show
Another possibility is Aerobic table tennis classes which gives a backdoor entry into table tennis.
I have seen some of these in UK but for some reason they did not pick up.
You do not need an expert table tennis player but rather you need someone who is good in one or more styles of dance
They could have their own other dance classes as well as aerobic table tennis as a requirement for them being allowed to have other dance classes.
If I really cared about table tennis (which I don't & in fact I hate table tennis as it is so divisive rather than uniting people) this is the route I would take.......hire one or two expert dance instructors with them also teaching aerobic table tennis or some variation (Feel free to invent your own new fancy name .....that would become a rage like Zumba) .
I would only have about 3 to 5 tables strictly for multiball & serve & robot training & coaching only
I would provide free orientation & free group coaching to draw the crowd & offer paid group coaching & individual coaching.
Possibly a league for children & older adults
Dance should carry all your overhead expenses
A place that would not require a large facility for like 20 tables
Google Aerobic table tennis. I will Google & post some links later
