Yinhe Young is a superior reincarnation of Tibhar Dtec ox

Highly technical & extremely controversial topics. Not for the faint of heart

Yinhe Young is a superior reincarnation of Tibhar Dtec ox

Post by James Z »

Please read the following thread below first for background information
Is this REAL long pips rubber Yinhe Young really ITTF approved

This thread is limited to the ONLY untreated OX version of the Yinhe Young rubber
This thread is limited to the ONLY the 2.5 mm length actual long pips OX version of the Yinhe Young rubber .
I tested this rubber for past few days against several mostly around 2000-2100+ USATT rated power loopers & a wide pips penhold hitter.
My conclusion is that 2.5 Yinhe Young OX is a good rubber for at the table blockers and especially chop blockers and definitely much better than the ITTF slim pips Tibhar Dtec, which is a useless social rubber in the 40+ plastic ball ONLY era.
My chop blocks were especially lethal even though I have never been a good at the table blocker but have benn forced to play (eevn if I play at all) clode to the table. I have improved but I am no Zhou Xintong or Ni Xia Lian etc (Then again as a shakehander it seems penhlders like Zhou or Ni are much better or may be I am bad or have not done it for long, I do not know but I tend to think Yinhe Young may help shalehanders like Manika, Sreeja better than penholders)
My guess is that the other lower pip length version of Yinhe Young would be just as useless as Tibhar Dtec OX.

This rubber looks very similar to Tibhar Dtec.
1. very soft material
2. thin base sheet
3. smooth pip tops

So the disruption level of 2.5 mm Yinhe Young actual long pip was somewhat identical to the social slim pips Tibhar Dtec OX .

But since the pip length is higher 2.5 mm (with an Aspect Ratio of 1.6) , the total of spin generation + spin continuation of Yinhe Young is much better than Tibhar Dtec.
Of course I was more interested in finding out how this would be suitable for a former away from the table chopper like me.
The problem was the same as Tibhar Dtec. Since the pip tops are relatively smooth compared to say Feint Long , the dwell time is lower & renders this rubber relatively useless for a chopper (I know the REAL GOAT of all of table tennis Joo Sae Hyuk switched to Tibhar Dtec in desperation after the 2004 pip density regulation etc but honestly I don’t think a young Joo remotely had any clue about the grave implications of the 1998 Durban change or the 2004 pip density canhe etc. In fact I doubt he has any clue today . Neither does the Victas president Koji Matsushita)
(BTW most players have this idiotic myth that frictionless pips like Tibhar Dtec give more spin reversal & spin generation than a fractioned rubber like Feint Long . Fact is that the seemingly higher spin reversal of Tibhar Dtec (though still worse than Fent Long) does not come from Dtec being more frictionless, It comes from the fact that Dtec has softer material, softer base sheet & being more flexible than Feint Long).
Anyway the flex level of Yinhe Toung is almost identical to Tibhar Dtec. So both rubbers provide about the same dwell time, spin generation & spin continuation.
Another good thing about Yinhe Young is that it seems to have higher pip density.
Tibhar Dtec = About 12.5
Yinhe Young = About 15
As a comparison , the TSP P1 Curl (the original version & the ITTF claimed cause for the Durban 1998 increase in maximum allowed pip width) has a pip density of about 21 . (Of course TSP Curl P1 original came also before the 2004 pi density reduction regulation) .

So in summary Yinhe Young may be the best option for at the table blocker & chop blocker players but definitely not a suitable rubber for away from table choppers.
No rubber still is available for away from table choppers in the 40+ plastic ball only era. But I guess that is what ITTF wants anyway LOL
