I always wonder about doubles in these events.
There is round of 32 . But only 24 teams.
Why not let 8 more teams play ?
That would 24 matches total (MD , WD & XD 8 each)
These highest level players are here already & many of them do play doubles together more than occansionally.
Many top players may not want to play doubles and that is OK. But there should still be plenty of players (who came to the event for singles) who will want to play doubles

Seems to me that doubles is somewhat deemphasized at these events.
But double could also be high drama at these levels.

I understand about logistics etc. But is it really that hard ?
Are there some other reasons I am missing ?

Given that the top seeds are also top 10 are so players, why should they get the prize money from doubles as well ?
I would tend to think other players should get a chance to upset them in doubles
This sort of spreads the wealth also ?

Top seeded singles players should not be allowed to pair up other top seeded players in doubles also.
Make it draw doubles . This makes the draw itself as exciting LOL

It seems very weird to travel overseas 1000s of miles (with all the visa hassles these days) to play one or two matches and go home.
In many cases I am not even sure if many of these national associations have enough money to send (lower rankning) players to play one or two matches.

LOL
I agree
Single elimination (in the sport of TableTennis) ) in earlier rounds (instead of round robin) is garbage in general at any level , amateur or pro, regardless of complex logistics etc

If these players cannot play doubes as well (if they want) , they should at least be able to play roundrobin in early singles rounds
