Yeah but you cleverly evaded mentioning what the reason is.
The reason why there are only very few players in the top leagues is by deliberate design by the (click link) robotNazi controlled ITTF to keep the (click link) Olympic version of table tennis as a top spin only version of the sport by exterminating the all spin diversity version of the sport.
This was achieved with the (click link) 14 rule and regulation changes since 1977 to limit to severely limit the pips players but still keep them under ITTF so that the pips player won't start a competing association if they are banned............like the robotNazis threatened to do in 1995 to get the spein glue ban quickly repealed

Learning proper technique to do what ? Try in futility to learn the techniques to play top spin only table tennis like you are doing using dumb rackets and not learn the techniques to play all spins table tennis usings smart rackets ?

90% of humans have either a different backhand or a weaker backhand in all racket sports. Tennis has recognized this more than 50 years ago and move on with two handed backhand.
90% of table tennis players cannot loop consistently on the backhand but ITTF wants everyone to use dumb rackets for the convenience of 10% of the playing population.
But 90% of players may be successful playing all spin table tennis (top spin & back spin and of course side spins) on their backhands . For this you need to use a smart racket, as the poster you replied (TTGuy) to is correctly doing.

I am sorry to say this but you yourself are using the dumbest of dumb rackets because you are using a dumb blade & identical rubbers on forehand and backhand.

But you are absolutely right > Learning proper technique to loop consistently is hard ..........on the backhand for 90% of the playing population. But it is not your fault or anyone else's fault. It is the inherent nature of human condition in that the biomechanics of the backhand & its weakness that is the reason. But being in denial & not accepting this and correcting this but succumbing to social peer pressure in the biggest problem with newcomers to table tennis

Sebi , don't feel bad. I was clueless like you myself for almost my first 50 years in table tennis
I was brainwashed by the ITTF and its coaches in four different ways.
My last brainwashing lasted till last year.
I was set in the right path by the German TTNews Discussion forum & a good table tennis coach, though I have been a coach & administrator myself for past 20 or years.
I was lucky because I at least recovered from my first ITTF brainwashing within first 15 years in the sport. I was also brainwashed like you to think that top spin table tennis was the one & only way to play table tennis. I corrected myself after 15 years to find the right smart racket for my playing style and play all spins table tennis instead of just top spin only table tennis.
