I wanted to start a record of pips I have used on my BH as a reference for myself and others, to save time and money testing out these pips. I'm an offensive pips player so every description I have is going to be in reference to that style of play, mostly focusing on medium pips as that's my specialty. I'll also rate how close the medium pips are to SP or LP using SM (short-medium) and ML (medium-long) as there's a lot of variation in how pips behave. For some context, I'm a 2000+ USATT pips player so I feel I have the credibility and experience to give an accurate assessment on these pips at that level and below, which should cover the majority of players. I used an inner carbon OFF blade for all of these.
Wide medium pips mostly have wide pips characteristics but also have some slim pips characteristics
Slim medium pips mostly have slim pips characteristics but also have some wide pips characteristics
Anyway you have a lot to learn about pips . Your experience & level is good but because of your demonstrated lack of historical knowledge of pips especially slim and long pips, It is clear that you are also in a ITTF brainwashed state like most other pips players.
I do not mean to say this to insult you because I was also brainwashed by ITTF as well over a 45 year period since mid 1970s and not just once but 4 times in various different ways.
So when you use the phrases like “short pips” and “long pips” in the context of ITTF, it clearly shows you have been brainwashed.
My suggestion to you is that you de-program yourself of ITTF brainwashing & learn the truth about pips in ITTF by reading as many topics as possible on this forum with an open mind
Wish you the best
