I don't mean to be disrespectful to you as you are a living legend of US tabletennis & an exceptional athlete not just in table tennis but it seems rather strange to me that you have used anti all your life but now seem to be complaining about countless different materials (unless you consider anti to be not one of those "undesirable" material)Twiddler wrote: on Monday February 05 , 2024
Table tennis is not that much fun. The learning curve, the spin and countless different materials make it very difficult to play.
I am not saying this (I actually disagree with that strongly) >>> but I have read in 100s of places in table tennis literature where Europeans & Asians whine about how you & Eric were not really that good and were only ranked high because of your weird Ameican basement style & your anti spin rubbers.
In fact was this even not part of the reason (the other parts being John Hilton & Cai Zhenhua) why the two color rule of 1983 was even passed ?
Which materials should be banned now then, in your opinion ?
Anti maybe ?
Knowing what you know now & what you complain about countless different materials now , would you (& Eric) still have used anti in your prime youth 40 years ago ? Or would you have considered it as one of the material that should have been banned ?
Would you have just used hardbat only ?
Or you would have used just spinny inverted only and not used anti ?
Or may be just only ban long pips ?
Just saying
