The realities of getting coaching in table tennis

Post by James Z »

1. Table tennis is one of the most complex individual sport there is.
2. And every player in table tenni is a legend in their own mind & also believe they can be a coach like Phil Jackson (NBA) or Red Auerbach (NBA) or Bill Belichick (NFL) .

So based on above two factors, what really happens is that if you 10 different players & coaches in table tennis about even a very specific issue, you will get 10 different answers . It is not all these players / coaches are wrong or bad peopel. It is just that the sport & the equipment are just too damn complex.

Table tennis forums are full of wannabe coaches who hand out advice like candy without even understanding the question or even if the question itself is valid in the first place. This is why we have lots of cases of right answers to the wrong question in forums.
Another problem is with many players who take whatever a pro says as the absolute truth.
In table tennis players & coaches are probably wrong more than any other sport due to the compleax nature of table tennis.

So you need to think for yourself on every issue & figure out the truth.
